Dr. David J. Fletcher
President & Founder
Dr. David J. Fletcher in his day job is an occupational
medicine specialist and co-founder of SafeWorks Illinois,
a private medical practice, which he operates in downstate
Illinois in Champaign and Decatur. He is a 1979 graduate
of Rush Medical College in Chicago and a 1982 graduate
of the University of California, Berkeley. He is a noted
national expert in the occupational health field and
is the director of Occupational Medicine @ the University
of Illinois,Urbana, where he serves as an assistant
professor.
He is a very avid baseball fan and loves both Chicago
baseball teams passionately. He travels to the Cactus
League each Spring to watch the Cubs and Sox. In 1998,
he got married @ old home plate, where Comiskey Park
I once stood, with his former White Sox idol Bill Melton
as a witness.
He is writer, who is working on a screenplay
concerning the Buck Weaver story called The Curse of Silence
that
grew out of his interest in the Black Sox, which he
has extensively researched all over the country.
Besides baseball and writing, his passions involve prairie
restoration. Dr. Fletcher has restored over 200 acres
in downstate Illinois into a modern day Walden Pond
with wetlands, praire grasses, wildflowers, and native
hardwood trees.
